Redshirt Freshman Ka'Ron Ashley is making a impact for UWF Football.

After one month of football, the redshirt freshman Ka'Ron Ashley has made a huge impact in the receiving game for the University of West Florida football team. In 2016 I spoke with NFL draftee and former UWF stand out receiver Anas Hasic about the young receiving core that has shoes to feel and he raved about Ashley's athleticism speed and catching ability. Ka'Ron has emerged as a go to target for quarterback Mike Beaudry, through 3 games on the season Ashley is 4th on the team in receptions with 7 catches, 3rd on the team in receiving yards and 1st on the team in touchdown catches with 3. Last season Ka'Ron was a true freshman and he decided to redshirt and gain more experience in practice and strengthen in the weight room.

"It feels great to finally touch the field and be apart of the action. I feel red shirting was one of the best things I could've done. I trusted the coaches and trusted the process along the way and it's starting to show and pay off. I'm just trying to continue to grown and learn from the other players coaches," said Ashley.

Threw 4 games, the UWF receiving core has hauled in a total of 888 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns and 80 total catches. Last season they had over 2,500 receiving yards.

"I have very high expectations for us as a receiving core, I feel like we are the best in the nation and one of the most athletic cores in the nation as well," said Ashley.

His motivation comes from his mother that has taught him many things growing up and for that he has promised her many things in return.

"My motivation comes from seeing my mom making a way out of no way at times when I was younger, she always told me I had to make it for her and that she wanted to retire at 45 so it's on me to make that happen." said Ashley.

Be on the look out for a exciting season from the freshman and many more exciting seasons to come.
