Jim McElwain fired as Florida Gator football coach.

After a 3-4 start to the 2017 college football season, Jim McElwain has been fired with cause. He tenor at the University of Florida lasted 2 1/2 years and he took the Gators to 2 consecutive SEC Championships but he lost both to Alabama. Over the past 2 1/2 seasons McElwain went 22-12 (16-8 SEC) and 1-1 in bowl games. The Gators have lost the last three games to LSU, Texas A&M and Georgia. This past week McElwain was heavily criticized after comments he made about death threats he and the team reportly faced.

"At the end of the day, we all, we were brought here to win and we haven't done it. My concern isn't about my job. My concern is about these players, our staff. We've got a fantastic staff, support staff, their families. That's the concern. It isn't about me." said McElwain.

Before Jim McElwain was the Gator Football head coach he coached at Colorado State for 2 seasons and won coach of the year in the Mountain West Conference. A few seasons prior he coached for Nick Saben and the University Of Alabama as a Offensive Coordinator.
