Keyon Helton is locked in with USF and Charlie Strong.

Last Friday, West Florida Tech welcomed the Pine Forest Eagles to the gridiron for a classic 5A vs 6A battle. West Florida started out the game fast and jumped to a quick 14-0 lead. Senior free safety Keyon Helton help lead the defense to a first quarter shut out and he was flying all over the field and he tailed 6 tackles in the first quarter alone. In the second quarter Keyon blocked a punt and made the tackle on the same play when Pine Forest recovered the block kick. West Florida one the game 17-7 and Keyon finished with 11 tackles and 3 past breakups. After the game I spoke with him and he had plenty to say following his stellar performance.

"We wanted to jump off to a fast start and show them that we came to play and I believe we did that." says Helton.

Keyon currently has 21 division 1 scholarship offers from many schools around the country such as Purdue, Southern Miss, Syracuse, Tulane, Western Kentucky and many others. According to 247sports.com, Keyon received a official offer by the University of South Florida this past summer on June 16th, he committed 13 days later after a official visit.

"I' am 100% committed to USF, I don't play on taking any official visits anywhere else and I am looking forward to getting down there to catch a game soon." says Helton.

Be on the look out this season for #6 for West Florida Tech, they have 4 games left for the season and they have plenty of talent on the roster.
